3 Races to Watch in This Week's Sleepy Massachusetts State Primary
Political Pros Say Several Races Could Signal the Mood of Bay State Voters
Bay Staters will head to the polls on Tuesday, Sept. 6, for a primary election that features several competitive races. While the gubernatorial race between Republican incumbent Charlie Baker and Democratic challenger Maura Healey is getting the most attention, there are several other races that could provide insight into the mood of Massachusetts voters.
Here are three races to watch:
- First Congressional District: Incumbent Rep. Richard Neal (D) is facing a challenge from progressive challenger Alex Morse.
- Fourth Congressional District: Incumbent Rep. Jake Auchincloss (D) is facing a challenge from conservative Republican candidate Jesse Mermell.
- Ninth Congressional District: Two Democrats, businesswoman Kristine Casey and attorney Bill Keating, are running to replace Keating, who is retiring.
These races are all competitive and could provide some indication of the direction that Massachusetts voters are leaning in this year's midterm elections.
