Thunderstorm, rainfall warnings lifted across eastern Ontario, western Quebec
Environment Canada lifted thunderstorm and rainfall warnings across eastern Ontario and western Quebec on Saturday evening, but the risk of heavy downpours remains.
The warnings were issued earlier Saturday afternoon, as a weather system moved across the region, bringing with it the potential for thunderstorms with wind gusts up to 100 kilometres per hour, heavy rainfall and hail.
Environment Canada has lifted its thunderstorm and rainfall warnings for all of eastern Ontario and western Quebec, including Ottawa, Montreal, and Gatineau.
However, the risk of heavy downpours remains, as the weather system that brought the thunderstorms is still lingering in the area.
Environment Canada is advising residents of eastern Ontario and western Quebec to be on the lookout for potential flooding, as heavy rainfall is still possible.
Residents are also advised to avoid driving through flooded areas, as even a few centimetres of water can cause a vehicle to stall.
